Webcasting is a way to allow an interactive forum from remote
locations. It's uses are as many as its forms, ranging from
text and PowerPoint presentations, to video and telephony
integration.
A video Webcast usually involves a presenter or presenters
delivering an address with PowerPoint accompaniment. As the
viewer looks at his/her computer screen, on the left side
is a box that's about 2" by 3" with the presenter
speaking. On the right is a window with synchronized PowerPoint
slides. There is often a button to click so the viewer can
ask questions in a text format, then receive answers by the
presenter real-time. Telephony can be integrated so a viewer
can call in and speak real-time to the presenter, as well.
While the presenter is speaking, polling or other interaction
can be done.
Furthermore, the entire Webcast can be archived and replayed
for months following the original event.
Conducting press conference via Webcast is a great way to increase media
participation. The reach is worldwide, and the features, like simulcasting
in different languages, offering print-ready photos and art, radio-ready
actualities, and even broadcast quality video interaction is easily integrated
into the mix.
The ability to test and evaluate real-time during the Webcast makes this
form of virtual classroom ideal for recertification, renewals, etc.
Hold companywide meetings without absorbing the cost of traveling employees
around the country.
